We put on our chef hats today—not because we’re baking cookies, but because we are “cooking up” some cleaning experiments right here in our Kissimmee kitchen. As we grow our family business, we are constantly testing different “recipes” for success. We aren’t scientists or chemical experts; we are just honest cleaners learning the trade and figuring out exactly what works best so we can share it with you. We’re testing products and methods to see if they really live up to the hype.
Today’s Experiment: Baking Soda Paste
We hate the smell of heavy-duty oven cleaners (the fumes are terrible!). We wanted to see if a simple paste of baking soda and water could actually lift years of burnt grease off an oven glass door without scratching it.
- The Method: We mixed baking soda and water into a thick paste (like pancake batter). We spread it all over the oven glass and let it sit for 45 minutes. Then, we scrubbed it with a non-scratch sponge.
- The Result: It took a little elbow grease, but the brown stains actually lifted! It wasn’t instant magic like the commercials, but it felt much safer to breathe while doing it.
✈️ Lessons Learned
Great for maintenance. For really, really old ovens, you might need the heavy stuff, but for regular cleaning in our client’s homes, we love this eco-friendly option.
