The Cloudy Glass Challenge: Vinegar vs. Blue Glass Cleaner🥊
Intro: What’s Cooking in the Kitchen?
Hi everyone, it’s Sehwa and Robert from Connor Cleaning Services!
We put on our chef hats today—not because we’re baking cookies, but because we are “cooking up” some cleaning experiments right here in our Kissimmee kitchen. As we grow our family business, we are constantly testing different “recipes” for success. We aren’t scientists or chemical experts; we are just honest cleaners learning the trade and figuring out exactly what works best so we can share it with you. In this series, we’re testing products and methods to see if they really live up to the hype.
Today’s Experiment: Hard Water Spots
We have a lot of hard water here in Kissimmee, which leaves white spots on faucets and glass. We wanted to see if standard blue glass cleaner handles hard water spots better than plain white vinegar.
- The Method: We taped off a section of a spotted bathroom shower glass. One side got the blue spray; the other got a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar.
- The Result: The blue spray cleaned the dust, but the white water spots came right back once it dried. The vinegar side actually dissolved the minerals!

✈️ Lessons Learned
Vinegar wins for hard water. The smell isn’t great (it smells like a salad shop for a few minutes), but it’s the only thing that actually eats through the calcium deposits.

⚠️ Safety Corner
Because we are learning, we take safety seriously—and you should too!
- Never Mix Chemicals: CRITICAL: Never mix vinegar with bleach. It creates chlorine gas which is deadly.
- Material Safety: Vinegar is an acid. Do not use it on natural stone (like granite or marble) as it will “etch” and dull the stone permanently.
- Protect Yourself: We always wear gloves (and sometimes safety glasses like Robert!) when handling cleaning solutions.
